Yes it is. It may be more practical to install a supercharger.
I have modded my GTI, but mine is 18.t.
You will have problems. But i know it works out pretty well if you know what you are doing.
You may want to only push about 16 PSI from your turbo. Anything over that will cost a lot more to do reliably and properly. if anyone tells you differnet (and someone will), don't listen to them.

I Agree with the posts above. Turbocharging will be expensive with a kit and custom will be more money and possibly headaches. Supercharging is a better way to go in this case, but it's going to be expensive. $3,750 for just the stage 1 plus 8-10 hours of installation. If you plan on installing it yourself, you will save alot of money, but it's going to cost you a few days of work and trial and error. If you have never installed a kit before, easily double that time.

You can install one with easy. Your best bet is to find a system for your applicaton. If you stay in the lower boost range and make sure you get tuning done you will be okay. If you cannot find a system out there, you might want to look into supercharging it. I know VF- Engineering has a complete system for it. It comes with everything straight down to all the tuning.

Will cost a bomb. You will need lower compression pistons installed amongst other things........
