That's Hard Rap culture, but I'm African-American and I am not in the Hip-Hop culture. I can't stand rap and most Hip-Hop, but like Jazz and Classical Music. I don't' speak to people that way, and don't understand it myself. I guess its the same concept when rock stars break their guitars on stage, but would kill anyone else who tried to break them. Its probably a more complicated physiological reason behind it then it may outwardly suggest, maybe they made it into a positive slang to diminish the negative or mental effect it has on them. to be cool is to rebel, the more you rebel, the cooler you are, like how now some women call themselves B****. I think words are powerful, and do not call myself anything negative, because words don't change but evolve and always keep their underlining meanings.
I work to improve my words and not use derogatory ones, by calling themselves this, they are degrading themselves, its a practice of self hate. Its just what they have exposed themselves to.

Because the ones who actually use the word are. They use the word to demean someone just because of their skin color, and they usually do it behind closed doors. They know better than to say it to someone's face. And why do white people call each other crackers?
