Why isn't this question out in the public more? It is like Islam is a seperate species of religion that cannot be criticized! If you go to any college campus, anything that seems western or christian is openly criticized. But in those campuses and society in general,
Islam cannot be criticized? I am not talking about the individual here, I am talking about the RELIGION.

Islamic societies are Fascist, Autocratic, theocatic, and are rife with hate toward women, non-muslims and the western world. Islamic schools teach children the glory of suicide bombing and how America and the west is evil. Also children are shown verses in the Qur'an that say a Jihad or a Fatwa against people who are not muslim is justified!

Islam is one of the most intolerant, oppresive and violent religions in the world. But people continue to call anyone who criticizes Islam a "bigot" or "intolerant".

For those reasons I listed, I belive ISLAM the religion, not the people, is evil.

Somecan.. Your question to me is idiotic, "do you know anyone that practices islam-the-religion"?
why i think it is about 900 million people because "islam-the religion" is a religion, however violent and oppressive it is.

Jaime t- I can tell you that prisoner who are in prison and Christian, did not go in there Christian. they converted, repented their sins, and hopefully will be come a functioning member of society.
Islamic Jihadists however, were taught how they act by the religion of Islam!! Islam, Islamic schools and Islamic society teaches children how to kill, to kill any non-muslims, and that The West is evil.!!! They also get taught in schools that Suicide Bombing is glorious!!! Christianity does not teach you that!!

Why do people compare the few and far in between christians who have taken it too far, to the Extremley high numerous Muslims who have committed atrocities in the name of "allah"? They cause (not the americans) an average of 12 violent deaths a day in Iraq, oppress women, and kidnap and murder non-believers!! that it no way connects to the one lunatic you liberals can think of, Timothy McVeigh!

2006-10-27 17:01:48 · update #3

Damun Schule- There go the liberals again, because they have no answer to the question I asked, they put the people into the group!

I DID NOT ASK IF MUSLIMS ARE EVIL, I ASKED IF YOU THINK ISLAM IS EVIL!!!

If people would please follow my question and my additions to it, they are.

Do you think ISLAM is evil?
Why can we not openly criticize ISLAM?
Why is ISLAMIC doctorine so violent?

don't change the question!!!

Okay, point taken. However, the Christian Church, (of almost any and all denominations), has been the bloodiest and violent religion to ever take root on this trailer-park of a planet we call home.

Judaism and Islam actually lived and worked, (albeit semi-peacefully), before the Christians ever came along. Christianity has, for all intents and purposes, sullied ALL religions except maybe Buddhism - which only teaches peace, love and respect for not only your fellow human, but ALL life on this planet.

I was raised 1/2 Catholic and 1/2 Jewish. To be honest, I wish I'd never been raised either. That's why I now have an Associates degree in Theology. I wanted and NEEDED to know what it was like for others.

I do not dismiss others beliefs. And I never will - regardless. Nor do I condone them and their sometimes violent actions.

As an Agnostic, I do truly believe that there is a higher power. However, we truly do not know what god, (She, It, or He ), really is or wants of us.

By putting all those of the Muslim faith into one "hand-basket" as they say, you are creating even more hatred in this world. I live in NYC and witnessed first hand, the second plane crashing into the towers. I lost four good friends that day.

DO NOT EVER hate a group because of their religious beliefs! Those events happened because they were brainwased into believing that it was a "religious" mission. Nothing more, nothing less. And PLEASE, for the love of our Earth, Family, Friends and Life, stop asking these hateful questions.

While I have never, nor will ever, forgive those that killed my friends as well as the other 3,000 plus, (and growing), people - it was the action of just a few. It was NOT a race of people and definately not a religion. Do you also blame every African-American, Puerto-Rican or Mexican if you get mugged or robbed?

Islam is NOT evil. Media just tries to promote it as an evil religion, and those people who believe it, are losers that want to create problems.
A truly good Muslim, Christian, Jew and any other religions does not bash other people's religion (etc, pointing out how crappy it it)

Let me talk about your comments:
- Women, it is not Islam, it is the people themselves. Islam has no hatred towards women. One of the reasons why women were the veil, it so that men will look at them for the right reasons (their personalities). But wearing the veil is a debatable topic. Women in Islam is highly respected.
- Muslims are not against non-muslim believers. But if you happen to meet one, that person is not a true muslim. Muslim allows non-believers to follow any faith.
- Muslims against the west? They are not against the West. They are just angry that some corrupted western policies still continue in their own land. If the West never got involved in the Middle East, there would be no problems right now.
- Jihad, Fatwa, they are not against non-muslims, but if you meet one like that, then they are not true muslims. They are just there to defend their religion if people try to put an end to it.
- Criticism, well, I can say that burning of the Danish Embassies is Un-Islamic. But one thing is that these Danish Cartoon are just trying to teach people wrong ideas about Islam, which is likely to bridge the gap between Islam and the Western world.

Those are some examples.

In conclusion, read more books before you make statements.
In conclusion, No religion is evil, Islam is NOT evil.

Peace

I don't think you can call the whole religion violent. Yes, there are violent extremists, but aren't there some of those in every religion? Also, you say they hate non-muslims, but many Christians see non-Christians as savage or below them. Yes, some Islams suicide bomb, but Christians/other religions do and have done plenty of awful things as well; torture, massacre, forced conversion, etc. Insulting someone else's religion cannot be justifyed unless you know the true history of your own.

You haven't read the book, have you? If you had, you'd know that the religion forbids everything that you attribute to it. The problems that you cite are cultural, with religion distorted to support it.

Did you know that Cristianity requires women to cover their heads? (like Catholic nuns) I Corinthians, I think. In Judiasm, only prostitutes can appear in the streets without their heads covered.

In Islam, women have equality in the house (the man doesn't own her). They have a right to own their own property, sue for divorce, and keep any money they earn to themselves (unlike Christianity). Education is a duty for all Muslims, male and female.

In the Qur'an, it says that muslims may fight against anyone who fights against them, but when the others stop, Muslims must stop, too. Muslims must not destroy property when fighting, or harm women or children. Jihad means 'struggle'. A jihad can be against overeating, smoking, your daily work, etc. Anything that vexes you is a jihad. A fatwa is an edict; a declaration of a duty. Giving to the poor can be a fatwa by an imam.

'There is no compulsion in religion' -the Qur'an. Those who never believed in Islam will go to Heaven if they believe in one God, live a righteous life, and give to the poor. For those who DID believe in Islam, but turned away from it, only God can judge or punish them. They are not to be punished by men.

Try reading the book before you criticize. I am not Muslim, but i read the book instead of relying on Fox News to tell what it says. Never let anyone else form your opinions for you.

Well, if they teach that you kill anyone who is
not of the Islam faith, they are teaching evil.
Everyone has a right to live and not be told by a
murdering dictator
which people live and which die. Everyone needs
to go to the Library and get "Because They Hate",
a book from someone who escaped Lebanon
and had to live in a bomb shelter while there to keep
from being killed by the Islamic facists.

Like any religion that it's very core beliefs are based on the written word will have difficulty with interpretation. When, where, and who, will all influence what is being said when a "holy book" is written. Fanaticism occurs in any religion. Misguided interpretation. And misguided interpretation will be around as long as a priesthood stays in control. As long as a priesthood is in control and interpreting the written "holy book", nothing will change.

I agree with you! The whole Islam religion can be traced back to the bastard son of Abraham whose name was Ishmael. He was the father of the ungodly race (Islam) while Abraham's other son, Isac was of the lineage of Christ. The whole Islamic religion was founded on nothing more than a man who claimed to have had a vision and from this claim the religion of Islam was founded. They are positively evil and refuse to believe that Jesus was the Son of God but Jesus has a message for them."unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sin" We are warned in the Bible not to believe everything that appears to be a miracle or a vision as the Lord knows that Satan can also perform these and deceive millions. At least one person in every 5 in the world today is a Muslim and being a false religion Satan will promote them and ensure their movement will continue to grow as they would have to be the most evil people on earth. When John had finished writing Revelations that was Gods' last word to mankind,i.e. no more visions etc., as the word of God was then completed. Its a pity I wont get to see the look on the faces of the Muslims at the judgment as I will be at the judgment of the saved and they will be at the judgment of the unsaved as the Lord has declared them to be "without excuse"
