Ok, so I'm doing a report on the ending of the book, how the last 8 chapters or so didn't fit in with the rest of the book. Can anyone help me with ideas to support my thesis, which will be something like, "After chapter 31, the story does not fit in with the rest of the book. Therefore, Mark Twain should have stopped there."

Ok, I really don't have a choice in what I'm writing. My teacher gave me the topic and I have to write about it.

It doesn't fit because Huck was supposed to have changed; he now has resepct for Jim (a slave) and thinks that slavery is wrong. The last part of the novel is when Tom Saywer tortures Jim for his own entertainment, and Huck goes along with Tom Saywer, not finding anything wrong with allowing an African-American suffer.

Tom Sawyer was shot in the leg and needed treatment, so the black slave brought him to be treated by a doctor. After that, a will came stating that the previous owner of the slave had set him free in her will. Tom got better and kept the bullet as a reminder. Finn went back to live with the Widow and THE END.

No......you are judging an author....he wrote what he felt at the time....

Perhaps it doesn't make sense TO YOU!

Figure out why ...just what are you objecting to...what don't you like, ...you just sound like someone who wants an easy way out and doesn't want to really critique the book.
...That book has been read by millions ...and critiqued so what original thing are you really adding...I'll bet you don't even know...and I think the teachers will see right through you!

My English Professor in Illinois, said the difference betwee writing and Literature is "Writing confirms" vs "Literature Confronts" ideas....now do you get it?
