This is America and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Good for the Dixie Chicks that they have the guts to speak the truth. At least they tried to keep us from 4 more crappy years with the worst leader the U.S. has possibly ever had. I don't think they should have to apoligize for saying anything. A lot of people don't want to hear the truth and want to punish people who speak it. Just like our current leader and all the people in his administration. They are just a bunch of bullies that think their opinion is the only one that matters. We should yank their dumb a**es out of office and send them back home to Texas or wherever. The government also controls alot of the media (such as FOX News) that do one side opinionated reporting and try to tell us all how to feel and what to do. People need to start using their brains, open their eyes and ears. Then they might see how things really are. But see that is only my opinion. You don't have to agree with it.

Well because of how and when they said it really is why some people dislike them. Also people from their state probably think they should have been more suportive of Bush. Their timing wasn't very good also they probably should have given their statements if they wanted to say them to a magazine or newspaper. Saying them live at concert without much of a warning shocked people, and leaked out to quickly. All and all though the Dixie Chicks have stayed strong and their records still make it, they stuck to their guns I guess and for them it just seems to work out. Even though now their not quite as popular as before.

They have the right to express their opinion and others have the right to disagree. The Chicks simply forgot that the majority of their audience were nascar loving, flag waving, hard working people who love their country and support their President. Sure, you certainly have the right to say whatever you want, but don't be upset when others disagree and voice their own opinion in ways of their choosing. Personally, I don't care how embarrassed the Chickies are and I don't care about their perception of the "truth." And I personally don't care to spend my money on concert tickets where I am looking forward to hearing good music only to be bombarded with someones (who I neither know nor trust) political agenda.

Tell the truth? That's all they did?

No, what they did was bash the president, onstage, in a foreign country, several times. Americans may dislike our current policies, but we resent rich, spoiled entertainers bashing their own country.

Just because you have a microphone doesn't mean you should open your mouth. They should dissent like the rest of America: at the ballot box. If they want to stage a rally and take time out of their lives to protest the war, great. But if you want to be onstage before paying customers and act that way, you might suffer by losing some fans.

I don't think the media hates the Dixie chicks, I believe they ticked off a large group of there fans country fans are very patriotic & most don't agree with the dixie chicks remarks enough so that they refuse to buy there music. basicly they pissed off a very vocal patriotic group of people.my oppinion.... they could of got there oppinions known with just a bit of diplomacy it's the words they used.

OK. Since you seem to have an understanding of this event I won't have to explain it.
But recall that they are country artists, who are mainly caucasian conservative republicans, supportive of overuse of oil , the president, and war. So they made a remark that went against all of the beliefs of the audience they were targeting. They stated their opinion, sure, but it was not considered politically correct and basically triggered the reaction the stupid cartoons or the DaVinci code did.
The world can just be so screwed up sometimes.

One member stated her believe. The fan base that they made their money on didn't like it. So less music play, less concert tickets in the southern States etc... So? They have been on Ellen, Oprah and other talk shows and have been applauded etc... Now they are riding the wave of anti-bush and enjoying sold out concerts in liberal minded states and Canada. It's not like the suffering for lack of money or anything.

Like other people have said, it was an undiplomatic way to say an undiplomatic thing, their fans didn't like it, and just as important, the radio stations took exception to it as well.
Sadly, but truthfully, it was a silly way to express their opinions and it pretty well ruined their careers.

What the hell?? People, they have a right to express their opinion, but as consumers, I don't have to buy their records if they piss me and other listeners off! THIS HAS ZERO to do with freedom of speech! JEEZ! They have the right to speak, and I have the right to not buy their music. It's as simple as that! Many agreed with them, but far more (especially their US fans), disagreed with them.
