Schadenfreude.

The only word I know for that is "schadenfreude." (Pronunciation per Dictionary.com is "SHAHD-n-froi-duh" - the last syllable is normally pronounced, though softly.) It's German (from "Schaden" [harm] + "Freude" [joy]), and the definition is "satisfaction or pleasure felt at someone else's misfortune" or "pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others."

Awesome word, if "evil" meaning/feeling. ;-)
Hope that helped!

Sadist fits this although it often implies physical pain vs other kinds of misery.

I think the word you want is "schadenfreude" (It's pronounced SHAH-d'n-froid.)
