Does anyone know why Tool named themselves thusly?

I am a fan of Tool and consider them the best band since The Police and U2. But I would like to know why (they say) they decided on that band name.

I can't remember how they said they got their name. But I read it at toolshed.down.net . That is THE best Tool site! I love Tool too. I hope this helps.

i dunno , cause "implement" was already taken?? Btw- Tool isn't such a big deal , no great messiahs of modern heavy rock by any means.....
