It must of been one hell of a hit for you not to know what to do.No one can really give you good advice because you left out details like if its a 6 inch gash,if its been bleeding after holding pressure to it for 10 solid minutes,if you feel dizzy,etc.............

If it were me I would hold a COLD damp rag on it until it quit bleeding. . .this will help with that and it will help keep the bruising down.
After it quits bleeding I would check it out and see how deep it is.
If it is a big enough cut in the skin you might require a suture or two.
As a general rule head wounds bleed like you just had your head cut off but the wound can be really small and only require a bandaid on it.
Clean it up without rubbing too hard or you will start the bleeding again.
Make sure you are up to date on your tetnus shot,if not or if you can not remember when you had your last one you probably should go get one.

Use a cold compress to decrease the swelling and blood flow, if bleeding continues, get stitches and seek medical attention.

Visit an ER. Any head trauma can cause internal bleeding which can be very dangerous. Besides, you want to avoid an infection.

Get a ban daid put it on. Alternate beteen HOT and cold rags on your head call your docter
