You've got a Yahoo! account, so start off with Geocities (although there are many other sites that offer free webpage space... just search for them!). If you're a beginner, Geocities has many choices... PageWizards sets up a standard web page in four steps (just choose background, layout, etc. and type!). PageBuilder loads a builder in which you can choose from tons of backgrounds, colours, fonts, etc., and then type where you want on the page, add photos where you like, make links, put in polls, etc. If you're a bit more advanved, HTML is the way to go... a pretty simple programming language. There are others (such as CSS, mentioned above) that can make your page amazing, but they're a bit more difficult... once you've got the hang of things, there are tutorials everywhere for those, so give them a try!

My first suggestion would be to first learn how to use HTML code.
Next I would suggest learning how to use CSS.

I would suggest the following link for a free online HTML course.
http://webdesign.about.com/c/ec/9.htm

The next link would be the free online CSS course.
http://webdesign.about.com/c/ec/30.htm

All you have to do is subscribe to their class, and you get a weekly assignment to do. This will help you get going in making home pages.
