Nearly everybody does. Whites especially. The racial scripts are necessary to keep the less favored race on the straight-and-narrow, so that he/she doesn't get into trouble by violating one of the many social taboos pertaining to racial relations that have proliferated over the years.
Once you give any group a favored status, protecting them from offence by putting a big whammy on any less-favored offender, the favored group wastes no time in inventing just as many ways to be offended as they possibly can. The reason? Being offended has become their road to empowerment, so naturally they're going to be looking for the least little slight, the mildest rebuke, and criticisms, no matter how well deserved, so that they can complain to someone in authority and reap some sort of reward. The reward might be eliminating a rival for a promotion, for example.
In order to avoid the whammy, the less favored groups must employ racial scripts, which restrict their behavior and freedom tremendously. And usually it is a necessary part of a racial script to pretend that one's behavior is natural (when it really isn't) and that no racial script is being used.

i don't know how automatic it is but a lot of people change in different circumstances. not even racially related. people use different language, gestures, attitudes at a racetrack or in a boardroom or in a bar or at an opera. People adapt to the environment. I once was married to a guy who was very proud of his abilitly to change and adapt to fit into whatever age, socioeconomic, racial, class, educational group he encountered.
of course if people are uncomfortable with a certain race or ethnicity (usually due to lack of experience) that will change their response, too. they might be nervous or unconfident.

Racial script? Some do, some don't. I don't - I'm just a natural mimic. It get fun at family reunions because my grandmother is from England and hasn't lost her accent even though she's been in the US since the end of WWII. It just happens - I don't even realize I'm doing it until I'm either being accused of making fun of them or being asked what part of where ever I came from. It just comes naturally to me - I love language and accents are a part of language.

everybody does. its in our nature to conform, but it is usually on a sub-conscious level. the most noticable change happens to their speech.

I am not sure what you mean by change. Please clarify. I think people act differently depending on who they are around. Black, white, young, old, etc.
