In bearings, in engines, on ice skates, with aircraft surfaces, boating surfaces, in pressing/die operations, anyplace you have wheels, some cooking surfaces, moving parts on toys are all places where reduction of friction is desired. In some cases only a reduction and not an elimination of friction is desired. The first guy gave such an example.

-the first case is that friction makes the gears harder to move
-the second is that friction makes the spaceships get hot when they are flying
-the third is that friction can ruin any moving object

when doing the moon walk.....when trying to slide faster...when you are having sex...well sometimes you want to increase friction there
