I'm at youtube.com. I have dialup, so it takes an hour to watch a 2 min music video. How can I download it to my actual computer, so I can watch it by going through the "My Computer" folder and not have to be on the internet.

You *can* download it, but you do have to be on the Internet and the video does have to be playing in a separate browser for you to do so... and the download can take a while, even using high-speed Internet. As well, you need a special player to play it (it downloads as a Flash video, .flv), the download of which may take hours and hours, especially on dialup! So yes, it can be done, but it's almost not worth it. However, once you've downloaded the player you don't have to again, and once you've downloaded the video you can watch it as many times as you want on your computer.

If you really want to, here's how:

Have a browser open with the video playing (on Youtube, Google Video, etc.). Open another browser window and go to http://www.videodl.org. Copy and paste the URL for the video into the space and click "get it". Then, right-click the link that comes up underneath that says "Download link" and choose "Save target as...". Save it as a .flv file and let it go! There are links for flash video players in the box at the bottom.

Again, it can be down, but it takes a lot of effort and a whole whackload of time on dial-up, so it might not be worth it.

You cant

Youtube uses only 1 swf for all their movies....and they use flashVars code to play their .flv's off their server.
