I generally think that people most dislike qualities in others that they dislike most in themselves. Any takes on this?

Hey there Da ben dan!

I think you are very right about that observation. It's the worst when it's a person's personal issue that they can't master and so express their self anger by directing it at others when they see similar traits. Projection is the term for it. And, yeh, the total homophobe who later comes out as gay is a classic example but very far from the only situation you see it in.

How was your vacation?

I find myself seeing in other people what I want to improve upon myself. Come to think of it, I hate the weight I've gained, yet I do not condem others that are overweight. I need to work on my self image, I really feel like I won't be acceptable (in my own eyes) until I loose 50 pounds.

definately, it's proven the worst gay bashers are closeted gay men. did you see will and grace when will was embaressed by jack at the gym because he was too gay, perfect example. we judge ourselves so harshly trying to stay in those tiny narrow boxes society tries to keep us in, that we can't bear to see someone else NOT following the "rules". Destroy all the boxes immediately and live guilt free and happy!!!!! now damn it!!! ....don't know if that'll help, but i feel better. lolololol

I think you're dead on. If they can;t stand the way they over-eat, they're not going to tollerate it when they see others do the same.
