Elton John. I don't even consider Billy Joel on the same level. Though Elton has made nothing but junk for years. But his 70's stuff is legendary. Elton and Bernie were a great team for sure. Billy Joel was on his own, and had some good stuff, but I just don't think the best of Joel can touch the best of John, not even remotely.
I like Lennon's work better. Though McCartney is a genius songwriter in probably an equal way. though I thought McCartney's post Beatle work was very disapointing and he underachieved big time.

Billy Joel and Lennon. I think Billy Joel is a great singer, but I like Elton Johns songs better, lyric wise.

McCartney and Lennon..The Beatles will always be Legends..I do really like elton and Have seen him in concert,a very long time ago,Back in the 70's , it was great, Billy Joels ok, I can take him or leave him
