If I download an object from the computer how do I open it while I'm playing the sims?

i downloaded a teddy bear and a tv.

Sims or Sims 2? As far as I know, both games have special folders you can place objects in to have them appear in the game.

For the first Sims, you need to unzip the file. Then, place it in here:

Program Files -> Maxis -> The Sims -> GameData -> (appropriate folder)

There are folders for walls, floors, lights, skins, roofs, etc. Furniture goes to:
Program Files/Maxis/The Sims/Downloads/

In Sims 2, extract the files to:

/My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads

Make sure it's My Documents, not program files!

Usually when you download an object it is saved to your desktop and when you compress it to a file and open it and all that stuff it automatically shows up in your game. At least that's the way I do it, and it works.

When you downloaded did it come with a readme?
if it did then just open it and it should have the instructions for it. If not then u have to put in the sims folder... not sure which one though
