www.recipesinajar.com and www.allfreecrafts.com are two good sites for ideas for things you can make. One year my husband and I both had surgery and missed work due to an accident just a couple of months before the holidays. We had a bunch of canning jars, and made gifts in them with all sorts of things - candles, cookie mixes, trail mix, hot cocoa mix, etc. - there's even a link on one of them for pet treats. If you want to decorate them, make labels on your computer, tie a cookie cutter around the neck, etc. We wouldn't have had much to give out otherwise. Another thing everyone loved was rice packs. Esp. my older relatives with arthritis. This is going to sound strange at first, but read all of it: fill a tube sock about 2/3rds of the way full of regular rice and tie a knot in the end of it. Get some pretty fabric if you sew, and make a case for it like a pillowcase if you sew, Otherwise, if you want to decorate, tie a bow on the end with yarn or ribbon. Now put it in the microwave and heat for 2 or 3 minutes. Put around your neck. Wow - feels great, huh? Holds the heat for an hour or so, huh? And no electric cord. Great in the car.

Get two sheets of 1 and a third yards of fleece. Lay them out on top of each other. Cut the corners like squares. Cut strips in the fabric all the way around. Tie them together and now you have a no-sew blanket!! A great gift for children and adults. GOOD LUCK!!!

I always make fudge and chocolate covered pretzels & peanuts, its great for everyone (well, maybe not babies)

You could make blankets, pillows and scarves with fleece that requires no sewing. Any hobby store will have ideas this time of year.

If you are a little craftier you can make pillow cases. I had a friend that did that for all their friends, each one reflecting that person's likes (mine had a hershey's print)

If you are looking really cheap, give them a personal coupon. You will do tasks for them or something (shovel snow, babysit for free, sister can borrow a shirt etc.)

Here are some things i made: For the guys, I made personal calenders of their favorite sports team or hobbies (using my computer and printer) I do a lot of knitting and crocheting, and I make hats and mittens for my grandchildren and blankets & booties for the babies. I have knitted slippers and crocheted doilies, these are nice giftes for the girls. Handpainted ceremics are also good gifts! I painted tree ornaments one year. Hope these have helped. Here are a few web sites to check out for ideas: www.bhg.com, www. freepatterns.com, www.crafttown.com, www.freecraftz.com. Good Luck!
