it actually depends what is your service provider. i used to work with SPRINT and you can block text messages and calls. Call customer service and they can do it for you with ease.
Or you can manually block or unblock sms by logging in to your account online. on the Text messaging menu, click on it and at the bottom of the page, you will see an option in Blocking numbers. That's where you'll encode his number.

It depends on the carrier and the phone, but in most cases you cannot do anything about this unless you change your number or remove text messaging. Some phones do have a feature where you can set ringtones for your favorite people and then set the phone to silent for all others.

I think it depends on the cell phone company technology rules. To me sounds as if not enough options, but this happened to my brother & here's what happened when we called verizon from my house to block a jerk from calling.
Verizon told us, once you answer a call from say-pestering pam, their # has downloaded into your phone system & the only way he could block a # was not to ever answer when a call comes from anyone you didn't want to talk to. Told him to text in #'s he was sure he wanted to block-before they called him & they could call but it'd ring on the other end-not on his phone.
Sounds like a very out of date program, but we couldn't block it,& ended up taking a harassing warrant for this person which involved getting court ordered phone records of both parties, and calling our sheriff & police dept to file a complaint, same as if someone were lurking & peeping in your windows.
Maybe just change your #,what my brother shoulda done, but it was used as a business phone & too many customers had his #,so had to keep the #.
Call the company's 800 # & tell them you need to block an unknown caller-do not admit you know the caller, just request the help to block it out.

depending on what kind of phone you have you could divert his calls but not the text messages, but you can delete those without reading them.

well, unless you call your provider and ask them, there's nothing you can do from your phone.
