Yes. When i say it snows, i dont mean like other countries where you get snow knee high or anything, but in the Drakensburg you will get snow on top of the mountains and around the Drakensburg/Harrismith area you will occasionally get snow if winter gets really cold. In Johannesburg it has snowed once in the last 22 years. Snow isnt all that common in the main areas of South Africa.

Good question - it snows in Ceres every year. Ceres is situated at the foot of the Skurweberg Mountains. Ceres is about an hour and a half from Cape Town. Beautiful town, beautiful people. Go there. Yes it does snow on the Drakensburg. Likewise, you will see snow capped peaks around the Somerset West area. Check your atlas. Beautiful area. Bye. Ceres is the eye catcher though.

On top of the Drakensberg and in very cold winters it does sometimes snow a little in the interior.
This "snow" is often never more than a few inches and in most cases melts that very same day.
It isnt uncommon, but it isnt normal weather either.
This year it famously snowed in Soweto for the first time in over 30 years.

yes it does in some places!! on the drakensburg in winter you will almost always find snow, in fact there is a ski resort there called tiffendale (although i must admit when theres little snow, they make fake snow). in the cape it snows a bit and this year we had a record amount of snow around the country but especially in the free state!! (although for us a record amount is only a few centimetres!!) it even snowed a bit in johannesburg. if it does snow its only in winter (from about june to august) so our christmas's are very hot, no chance of a white christmas!!

Usually it's just in the mountains, but this year there was some snowfall in J-burg in August, the last time it snowed in the city was 1988.
