Technically they are both wrong, since you failed to capitalize the first letter of that first sentence. The correct sentence is:

My family likes meat.

An interesting aside might note that a "family" can be compromised of a single lone person, such as an orphan without siblings.

"my family likes" because family, even though composed of more than one person is singular. If you were talking about more than one family then it would be "my families like meat" Just a simple rule of english.

Family even if comprising of several persons is taken as singular. So 'my family likes meat' would be more advisable.

Is family is singular then your looking at the first one. However, to make a simile, you would add an is between family and like in the 2nd option.
