The recommended ranges for blood pressure were updated not too long ago. The numbers being quoted here are outdated (or in some cases just plain wrong). 120/80 is now considered borderline/pre-hypertension. Anything BELOW 120/80 is normal--which is where you fall.
As another responder noted, though, your blood pressure will vary depending on circumstances. If you want a great, easy, free way to have your blood pressure monitored regularly, donate blood to the Red Cross! I go every few months and before my donation they take my pressure and write it on the back of my donor card. That way I always have a listing with me of several recent blood pressure readings, and I can get a good sense of what my "typical" reading is. Also I'm quite used to having it taken now, so I don't get the anxiety spike that many people get just from being in a doctor's office.
Here is more info on blood pressure and a chart of what the current range breakdowns are:

Its considered "prehypertension" Below 120/80 is normal. Between 120/80-140/90 is prehypertension, above 140/90-159/99 is Stage I hypertension and over 160/100 is Stage 2 hypertension. "Hypertension" is just the medical term for high blood pressure. If you are diabetic, you will ALWAYS want it below 130/80. For you, a doctor would not likely medicate you. Ideally you want to be below 120/80. Try cutting back on your sodium intake and make sure you are getting 30 mins of exercise most days of the week, if you are healthy enough for exercise. At that pressure, you may be at risk of developing hypertension in the future. Keep a close eye on it.

It's normal, I believe. There's a really good explanation on how to understand blood pressure in The Relaxation Response by Herbert Benson. Should be able to find it at your library.

That's a normal reading for your age. However, it will vary through the day. If that's an early morning reading, try taking it in the evening when you're tired.
Ideally, b.p. should be read after you've been sitting still for 5 minutes, not had anything to eat or drink for at least 30 min., left arm bare, arm bent and resting at a right angle to the body. Obviously, doctor's offices don't always adhere to those conditions.
And remember, blood pressure is just one indicator of heart health. If you have a family history of heart disease you'll also want to keep an eye on your weight, blood lipids, etc. Sometimes people with what we'd call elevated b.p. live to be 100 when everything else is good.

If you are average weight/height for your age...........
It's considered low/normal. Average normal is 120 over 80.

That is perfectly normal. The reasonably normal range for blood pressure is between 110/60-70 and 160/90.
