It isn't... Capitalist propaganda stops workers from actually looking out for their own good.
It's so stupid all these people saying "Communism failed wa wa wa..." Capitalism has "Failed" many more times than communism... I'm with you man, I guess some people just hate their fellow man, hate sharing, and above all, hate the average working american.

When was the last time you saw entitlements create wealth for the masses. If man kind was 100% Altruistic i.e. we lived in an utopia then yes communism would be find.
Even in the garden of Eden Man & Woman were told to work. When it is said we were created in the image of GOD does that mean physical or was it a mediphorical for being creators thru our work?

Yes communism is better. Why, everybody loved to stand in lines for hours to get bread and toilet paper and cheese and milk and anything else they wanted. Hopefully by the time they got to the front there was actually something to buy. Yup. The good ol' days. What a blast! And that May Day parade!! Whoooeee. FUN. FUN. FUN.

Because communism hasn't worked anywhere else there Einstein! As a Russian factory worker once said on 60 minutes about communism, "They pretend to pay us, we pretend to work"!
Further more, communism created a true class system that it said it would get rid of. If you where a high official, you had better food, summer houses, vacations in foreign lands, that was the kind of equality communism created. At least in our system, you can go as far as you desire!
JohnS- Capitalism only failed you! So sit and stew alittle while on your computer that people in half the world would love to have but cannot.

there was a tradition of socialism in Oklahoma--some really radical stuff was coming out of there in the early 20th century. It is the region that produced Woody Guthrie, after all....
some things that we take for granted have their roots in socialist ideas--State pension plans like Social Security, Trade Unions, etc.
If we were to go totally free market and abandon all of our government safety nets, it would be a bad, bad scene. Too much government regulation is stifling (think Zambia about 20 years ago) and not enough allows for out-of-control corporations (Cheney's wet dream!)

Since the beginning American culture has been based on free enterprise. People were expected to take advantage of their opportunities and there were lots of opportunities and no class system most did. Things have changed since pioneer days, but the tradition and myth of the land of oppontunity persist.

There are Communist groups here in the United States they are legally allowed to exist here. But in communist countries people of different political backgrounds are persecuted and imprisoned, we live in a multipularistic country that allows people of every background to exist, oddly we are one of the most liberal countries in the world were people can express very freely in opposed to communist countries who punish people of different views. Expression and economic oppurunity is one key values of a free liberal country.

have you read the communist manifesto? try reading the original then try the spark notes.
Marx's ideas are good until you try to actually try to put them in place.
it just doesn't work.
