Short stature and high heels?

Question

I am less than 5'0". I keep reading that short girls shouldn't wear heels and that it won't look good on us, and that it will throw off our proportions.

Why do people say that? If short people don't look good in high heels, then who does?

I have a close to normal-sized torso and ridiculously short legs, so I would have thought that the heels would make my proportions look more normal.

Any thoughts?

I personally see nothing wrong with wearing heels for short periods of time but no more than about 2-1/2 inches. any more and the calves bulge every time you walk. From the front it may not look bad, but from the back it really does look ridiculous. I've seen some girls wear 4 and 5 inch heels and it looks like the heel measures the same as the leg. If you intend to wear very high heels, wear a long skirt or pants. Just be careful you don't trip.

Your proportions would look more normal if you wear pointy-toed heels and straight leg pants with the hem no more than 1/2 inch from the floor. Any top or jacket worn should not be any longer than mid-hip. Even if you wear flats, make sure they have a pointy-toe and watch the length of your tops. Skirts are another good option as long as they don't go below the knee. All these tips will create the illusion of longer legs. Enjoy!!

People do say this. But, I'm about 5'2" and I wear about 2-3 inch heels. The trick is to not wear them too high. 2-3 inches will be fine and try longer jeans or pants. Also, wear them with skinny jeans or a straight leg jean. But, I don't think that your proportions will look out of place or anything. Mine sure don't. Good luck! <3

Shorter people can wear heels, as long as they do it right. Wear the shoes to be the same color as your pants, this tricks the eye into seeing one long thin line, and make sure that the hem or cuff of your pant comes a little over the shoe(NO TAPERED LEGS!!!).If you're planning on wearing a skirt, you may want to try one the new wedges. Also, make sure that you don't buy too tall of a heel trying to add to your height, this will throw off your proportions. When you buy your heels, make sure that you can walk in smooth steps, and try putting the ball of your foot down first as opposed to the heel.

Anyone can wear heels. These shoes make your legs look sexy. Additionally, get a pointy toe heel: it elongates the leg. Watch What Not To Wear on TLC (9:00pm on Fridays), Clinton Kelly and Stacy London tell women this all the time.

Heels look great on anybody, just not the same ones on everyone. Don't try to wear 6" heels, it'll make you look awkward and clumsy. Try something between 2"-4". Skinny jeans will make your legs look longer and so will wearing slightly longer pants that cover your ankle and pointy-toe shoes. Just not too pointy! Don't go crazy!

Ignore them! I do not begrudge short people. One sister is 5'0". When she was pregnant with her first born, she continued to wear high heels - until her doctor told her to wear flats until after the baby was born.

Here is an idea take 2 pictures of your self one without high heels and one with send them to me and I will give you an honest answer no kidding ....Some women no matter how short they are are just freaking hot in high heels and you just might be one of them so let me know

Anyone can wear heels you just have to find the right ones for you...I would stay away from clunky heels. But if you like them, wear them. I am 5'9 and have been told that I should wear them because it makes me too tall...but I like them so I wear them. Go for it if you like them!
