The similarities are downright spooky.

Yes it does. Orwell's book was an extrapolation from Nazi Germany into the future. But these guys have brought back "the big lie" of the thirties, the fascist playbook. Burn the Reich stag and blame it on the outsiders while you take over, threaten your citizens, invade other countries and plunder, etc. Anyone remember Rommel in the desert? It is more than spooky. There are better words for this. Good question.

ABSOLUTELY! Great analogy. However it is nt just the war on TERROR, which actually is a cover up to a lot of things i think. But mainly....
tapping on peoples phone lines
Border security issues (why doesnt he try to fight against DRUGS or better education first)
and many many other things.
Most importantly;
Most of the terrorist were Saudis. Doesnt have the guts to do anything to them because he has personal business interests as well as the fact that Saudis own 8% of US economy so he does not want that money pulled out.
Taliban was the enemy - NEVER got caught
Bin Laden was the enemy - NEVER got caught.
But going into Iraq was the answer to September 11?????
By the way I just watced a great movie called "VALLEY of the WOLVES" I recommend it.
Billy Zane and some other people are in it. I think it talks about the reality in Iraq.

i'm actual making far more effective $ less than Bush than even as Clinton became in place of work. and that isn't any through both of them frankly. So might want to we stop struggling with the warfare on terror... moron? i have not heard a unmarried Democrat say that... they in basic terms declare we would "strategically redeploy" (Democrat code for run away & conceal) or another nonsense... AND if the Republicans are not spending it on Iraq the Democrats will spend it on some gargantuan & horribly inefficient prevalent healthcare equipment. both way we are broke, in basic terms one way kills terrorists.

I just reread it. It is eerily similar to modern events.

What I particularly love is the way Oceania seamlessly switched enemies. Eurasia would be the enemy one day, an ally the next. We were attacked by nineteen guys, fifteen of whom were from Saudi Arabia, working under the guidance of a man in Afghanistan, so we invaded Iraq.

the spooky thing is that the american people have, for the most part, accepted it...our freedoms are being meekly handed over...the other thing i'm reminded of is that hitler didn't have to take over germany in a coup...he won national elections...people are more than happy to trade freedom for what they perceive as security...is it too late?
