heres the problem,

it's close to daybreak, and billy and his dogs need one racoon skin to make it to the championhip round.

Not real sure, but I think if you mean in the contest They win or something. The best thing to do is read the book.

It takes forever, but the dogs finally catch the coon and make it to the championship round.

Both the dogs die and the kid buries them next to each other.
