hey i need some help with pumpkin carving...?

how can you make a small pumpkin look like a dog?? like paint, felt, ect. i need a creative idea ... its not suppose to be carved so just how to make the face/legs the tail can be made from felt. it's for my cousins halloween project. thanks.

Bassett pumpkin: cut out floppy felt ears, and a black triangle felt square for a nose. Add white paint circles on each side of the nose for a muzzle, and then black dots for the whisker pores. Paint on eyes and mouth.
