Bluish" colored smoke is definitely a sign of crankcase oil being consumed during the combustion cycle. Probably needs rings. At this point, you do the whole job...have the cylinder walls checked, bore if necessary, replace rings and probably pistons, and, Plastigauge the rod and main bearings. Bluish smoke comes with old age.... and lots of miles....

How is the engine temperature? If the thermostat is not working and the engine is not heating up to operating temperature, it will blow blue or white smoke. The only evidence of burning engine oil in a diesel will be the dipstick, if the engine reaches operating temp.

You're gettin some cross contamination somewhere. Water is going where it's not supposed to. Simply replacing the heater core will not cause this. It's usually a bad gasket or a warped head. Or, worst case, a cracked head or block. Pull the dipstick. If the oil is "milky" instead of brown and translucent then it should go into the shop or the junkyard.

Welcome to Deisel! They love oil so chek it a lot and make sure the fuel filter is changed very often thru the winter and use fuel additives to prevent fuel line freeze up and sulpher content

too much fuel will make black smoke, and burning oil will make bluish white smoke.

either leaking past the piston rings or valve seals.

its getting water in the cylinder. Maybe a cracked head. Open the radiator and start the engine. Is there compression in the radiator?If there is, the heads cracked or the head gaskets blown.

sounds like a weak glow plug . or you got some bad deisel burn that tank off . then put the high grade in it see what it does.

Sounds like oil is burning, if your cylinder is scored oil may be getting in with your fuel during combustion.

It should until you floor it. then it turns dark. If it has alot of white tho check for air bubbles in the antifreeze. Bad head gasket.
