The neutral wire is the one connecting your circuit back to the nominal 0V of the source. while the line wire connects your load to the nominal +V of the source. This applies to DC circuits as well as AC circuits. In DC circuits the line is called the positive lead and the neutral is called the negative lead.

In 3φ-4W circuits the neutral connects the neutral of the transformer to the neutral of the load, and carries any current resulting from the imbalance of loads between the phases. While the neutral can be omitted in a 3φ circuit, it is not wise to do so.

Note: A neutral wire is part of the electrical circuit, and is NOT, repeat, NOT the ground wire. A ground wire connects the grounds of the equipment and the source to maintain them at the same potential, which is not necessarily the 0V of the source or the equipment. Ground fault detection and protection circuits will usually intentionally introduce a voltage difference between neutral and ground.

A neutral wire is generally a wire that is used to close the loop in an electrical circuit. it has a 0 potential but carries the current that is not consumed by the load which is connected in that phase. we can even use an earth wire in the place of neutral but it differs from the neutral as it carries the fault and short circuit currents instead of the unbalanced and unused currents and it can also damage the connected equipment whenever some fault occurs.

The neutral wire completes the circuit.
In short, the black wire is the "hot" wire, the white wire is the return which completes the circuit, and the bare or green wire is the ground.
At the service box, the ground and neutral are attached to the same connection which is connected to earth ground.
In a properly operating circuit, there is never any current in the ground wire - it's purpose is strictly safety related.
The hot and netral wire comprise the actual circuit.

The neutral wire carries the return current and is supposed to be at the same electrical potential as the ground.

This allows a metal chassis to be grounded and not have capacitively coupled currents from the AC circuits inside, since the neutral can be laid out to be closer to the chassis.

I think neutral wire used for earthing, why because it protects the devices from the electrical shocks

Hi. The neutral wire carries the unbalanced load. If you mean the ground wire then it provides a safe path to ground of a system.
