One of these rights would be that the State of Texas be split into Four different states:
The Joint Resolution for Annexing Texas and The Ordinance of Annexation contains this language providing the basis for forming up to four additional states from the present Texas:
“New States of convenient size not exceeding four in number, in addition to said State of Texas and having sufficient population, may, hereafter by the consent of said State, be formed out of the territory thereof, which shall be entitled to admission under the provisions of the Federal Constitution.”
Would the change to the American political landscape shift to the left or to the right? Would too much political power be centered in one region of the country? Just think the Senate would gain 6 new members and the House would lose 6 members. Personally I wouldn’t mind being from the State of West Texas. What do you think?

Texas entered the U.S. under a treaty between the United States and the Republic of Texas. It was never a territory of the U.S. As a result Texas is the only state when flying its flag side by side with the U.S. flag can fly their state flag at the same level as the American flag. Texas was governed at times by Spain and some parts at times by France. When Mexico achieved indepence from Spain, Texas became part of Mexico and was so for 15 years. After the Texas Revolution Texas was an independent republic for 10 years.
