R there any more differences from the spring and autmnal equinox except that they're on different dates?

No difference at all, they are just the 2 days of the year when day and night hours are both 12 hours long.

The two dates have the Earth in its orbit on opposite sides of the Sun

If I remember anything from Earth science I KNOW that the sun is at a different position.
