I used hypnosis to motivate myself to work out at the gym more often and harder and to eat more after I lost a lot of weight from an illness. I went from 161 to 175 in 4.5 months that way.

Now on my own, I've gained 8 pounds in the past month, mostly from working out more often and harder. I'm now around 190 at 6 feet with a 33 waist.

The toughest parts were eating more (I felt I was stuffing myself) and pushing myself to lift progressively heavier weights and more reps.

You have to take in more calories than you burn in order to gain weight. You want to avoid all fats, and too much carbohydrate. If you eat meals more often (4 or more per day) it's easier. And you have to exercise very regularly, so the food becomes muscle and not fat.

Some people are limited by their physiology though. I don't know if you're at your maximum weight. You didn't include your height or other measurements. They have done research to show that different guys can do the same exercise and have different amounts of mass/weight gain. Some of us bulk up. Some of us stay lanky and just as strong.
