Its prisons for children, teaching them nothing about the real world and how to function normally in the outside world. Doesn't teach respect or discipline. Just teaches them rubbish they wont even use once left school. They get released at 16 and then can finally learn the true skills needed in life!

LOL! While I am sure that every student has felt that school should be abolished, I don't think that it would be wise at this time. Unfortunately, we need a great deal of information to get along in society today, a lot more than even when I was in school 40 years ago. Advancement in science and technology and the creation of the "global village" via the Internet has made education more of a necessity than ever before.

That being said, I do believe the system currently in place in the United States is hopelessly archaic. I do hope that someday soon, the schools here will change to reflect the reality of life as we know it.

As a matter of fact, some parents already abolish school. They do home schooling instead. However, it should be abolished by the government. You can have choice home schooling, but being in school is very important for child development in social life.

The problem is not the schools. It is the forced busing where kids that do NOT want to learn anything OTHER THAN how to be rappers, are forced to go to school along side kids that WANT to learn!

In 1969, when I was in 11th grade, they introduced busing. We went from a one-color classroom to a 2-different-color classroom. The kids that were bussed to our school NEVER brought books to school, were ALWAYS late or did not attend classes, and dropped out quickly.

Here it is 2006 and NOTHING has CHANGED. The same group of bussed kids do NOT want to learn, do NOT bring their books to school, and drop out as soon as they can. ALL want to be rappers. My wife's mother taught High School for 12 years and QUIT because half the class was getting straight F's! because not only they refused to learn, they would not speak English.

EBONICS and slang is NOT English. Their logic behind this; "they did not want to appear to be 'white' to their friends."

To quote Thomas Jefferson...

"Although I do not, with some enthusiasts, believe that the human condition will ever advance to such a state of perfection as that there shall no longer be pain or vice in the world, yet I believe it susceptible of much improvement, and most of all, in matters of government and religion, and that the diffusion of knowledge among the people is to be the instrument by which it is to be effected.”

Or in other words, the best way to keep a nation of people down is to deny them education.

Personally i think that we need school. Without it how would we learn? And who would want to (besides me)? Socially I know plenty of people who hate school, and would get rid of it in a heart beat, becasue they hate having to waste there time learning things they think they'll never use. But it wouldn't be the right thing to do! We need education! And yes if you think about it we use alot of what we learn everyday. Plus, Do you really want some doctor who's never gon to school opperating on you? Just think about it!

well, bullies need to be addressed and teachers don't really care sometimes if a student is being picked on. School is important but keep in mind school isn't everything, in fact some high school failures became rich. It doesn't mean that fail high school on purpose but still have some education like a HS Diploma.
