spam, bulk email, unsolicited email. Same as the junk mail your mailman leaves in your mailbox. Over time Spam also has added malicious code.

It means that you have received a part of a mass email that someone has sent out to a list that they have acquired, if you are using yahoo mail got to settings and activate your spam control, then if you get a email from someone you don't know, put a check beside the email and then hit the spam button, you will never receive a email from them again. i hope this helps you,

As was mentioned before it's unsolicited email - usually advertising that you were not expecting. Apart from being annoying it's also eating your bandwidth which you have to pay for. I'm using spamassassin to filter out spam on my server, it's pretty good and free.

Pesky advertising that shows up in email by the truckload. Yahoo does a great job of eliminating spam. AOL makes you mark it and do the work.
