We live in BC, Canada and I am trying to convince my partner to travel the Alaska Highway in our fifth wheel next summer, . We hear different things...it is beautiful and it is horrible....What is your opinion?

Well...Ive been on the Alaska Highway about 6 times.
The scenery is wonderful, and you'll definitly see some eildlife along the way....Ive seen (and fed) coyotes, black bears, brown bears, elk, moose, caribou, bald eagles, etc.
The road is pretty basic...its the same throughout---I did happen to be on it once where it was pretty out of shape.....but they did construction later on it.
In Canada though, make sure you have plenty of gas because sometimes the next town can be 200 miles away. (Unfortunately for us it was late at night and we were almost out of gas and everything in the small little town was closed....and we ended up having to stay there til morning).

Been there, I was young so I didn't do the driving only riding, however my parents told me it was beautiful yes, but horrible. So I guess in answer to your question it's both! We have family up there was our reasoning.
Reason being Alaska can be difficult driving.....I wouldn't strongly recommend it. There are much better ways to see Alaska, either a tour or a cruise. You will pay more, but will find yourself stress free instead of in situations of major stress.....
If you do this drive I wish you luck, but Alaska isn't only about driving the Alaska Highway......so much more! Have Fun!

Yes you should do it. Make sure it's in about August when it's not so rainy though. It's a beautiful trip and gets more beautiful as you head into the Yukon itself.
