Just so everybody knows, I'm not for the government spending money ON ANYTHING but the basics. You see, then we don't have to pay 1/4 of our hard earned money to income tax. Then everyone could afford to donate money for private research....just pointing out the hypocricy.

I'll agree that any pork is wasteful.... However the stem cell debate is often misstated for political reasons. It is *embryonic* stem cell research that the federal government doesn't fund. And, to me, that is a good thing. Not necessarily on moral grounds, but because nothing has come from embryonic stem cell research as yet. Not even a real promise of anything. It is adult stem cells that have proved useful in the treatment of disease.

the majority of americans are religous in some faith or another and the main religions catholisism christianity jeudism and muslim are all against EMBRYONIC stem cell research because they believe life begins at conception so to spend the tax dollars on something that more than 70 percent of americans are against would be impeachable (not that i wouldnt like to see him go for what hes already done) besides the fact that that type of research is shooting blanks on delivering the first hint of a cure for anything adult stem cell research already does (and is well funded by the way)

You can not compare messing with the makings of life to berries!!!!The difference is one is a moral life changing issue while the others are trivial. I hate the fact that the government wastes money but what's new. I am happy in the fact that some people respect life and know we are not ones to be in more power than we already have of it.

Some of these make sense, others don't. The objection to stem cell research is only EMBRYONIC stem cells, & it has nothing to do with the cost. Given that adult stem cells are saving lives every day & embryonic cells have yet to be used successfully even in animals, I think we shoud devote our recources to adult stem cells.

You have pointed out good examples of government waste. It's why, regardless of where one stands on the "hot button" issues, like stem cell research, the dems are wrong on taxes...

Decent people are opposed to embryonic stem cell research, not stem cell research as a whole. Adult stem cells have helped 72 different ailments. Liberals just want embryos stem cells because it means taking a life. Everybody knows that Satan's minions need child sacrifices to feed their leader.
