The answer to the kidnappers is for the parent to go with the kid.
I thought everyone went with thier kid when they went out trick or treating.

parents don't see halloween as fun or even free candy sometimes.

some parents believe that they are giving their children to the devil when participating in halloween. its not usually about kidnappers, or rapists, but about the parents religion. others don't want their children to have cavities or be scared (if they are really young).

its not stupid, its just what parents believe.

The origin of Halloween from All Hallows Eve...the night of the living dead. --- Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. And that's pagan. Nowadays, we've come to enjoy scaring the pants off our friends and parading around in creepy costumes....how the two are related beats me. I'm sure its a marketing thing much like the melding of Santa Claus and Christmas. I respect ppls decision to participate or not....especially where kids are involved. There are plenty of dangers in the dark, not to mention other older kids who are just looking to have some fun at the little one's expense. The costumes, beer and nitelife seem to give rise to a lot of crazy behavior.... as for my kids....I love the fun and the scares and I think there is nothing better than a house or community Halloween party. Have a great weekend....

Some people believe so strongly in not celebrating the holiday, that they bring up their kids to do the same. Also, there are a lot of parents who don't allow their kids to eat candy. It's a shame too. Those kids have such pitiful looking faces the day after, when they have to hear how all the other kids had so much fun on Halloween.

Because some people had a strict and boring life growing up and, rather than rebelling as teenagers, they complied wholly... so now they feel they must inflict the same kind of boredom and lack of intellectual expansion (open-mindedness) on their own kids.

Just speculation, though. :)

Halloween isn't evil. Paganism isn't any more evil than any other belief system, in my opinion (I'm not even Pagan and I can see that)... I don't see why people think something is bad just because it's so different. The only reason I wouldn't wanna go is cuz it's so cold! (but... I would still go for the kids, enthusiastically even, cuz it's important to them so it'd be important to me)

I did not go trick or treating as a child cause my parents were worried about strangers, poisoned candy, and too much junk food. I take my son to shopping areas and college dorms to trick or treat. Safety is an issue, and some people still are anti-pagan.

Well, there actually are pagan origins to Halloween, but it's also tied in with the Christian Holiday of All Souls Day, on November 1st. Hence the name of the holiday - shortened from Hallowed Eve.

I'm with you. It's a lot of fun. But what are you gonna do? Some people think it's pagan or satanic. Silly, though, isn't it?

There are pranksters out on that night who like to throw eggs and butcher black cats and all. The kids here go to the school Halloween party. I is held at night and they play games and get candy and dance and just have alot of safe fun.

Because the world is so crazy. I can remember someone placing a razor inside of an apple. Can you imagine doing something like that to a kid. So now what we do in place of that is we invite all the kid in the neighborhood to our church on Halloween night and we give them all some candy, movies, and God. They have a blast.....

Some people are very religious and consider Halloween satanic.
They have the right to raise their children as they see fit just as you do.
I love Halloween but everyone is different.

Same reason they won't let their child believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy.

They think it's evil. It's all religion based to them. And I think those people are a bunch of dorks with no life.
