private peaceful, a book about 3 brothers and a girl during WWII, this was a book i read when i was like 10 though, but its a pretty mature book, by 22 year old sister read it after me and really enjoyed it too

An obscure one: 'Father Panic's Opera Macabre' by Thomas Tessier. It's a short surreal novel set in italy and touching on wartime croatia. an extraordinary dreamscape of a story!
