1. datta (Dayta is a character on Star Trek)
2. stattus
3. apparattus
4. Texas

I have heard it pronounced both ways--my family use the alternative pronunciations--however, I am the only one who left home to attend boarding school and then University. I now live in the UK, but can't honestly say how they words are pronounced by my English husband. The sound of multiple-pronunciations and terms for items is so second nature at this point, we don't actively notice them anymore.

Same as David R, and I come from the same area. generally, the english will choose the first version of each word, and the Americans the latter.

I would say:
1) dayta
2) staytus
3)apparattus
And I'm from Scotland.

I think you will find that most Brits will pronounce words as I have written above, whilst Americans will choose the opposite.

I use the second pronunciation of all three. Am from Saskatchewan, Canada. But I sometimes hear dayta or staytus here, too. Never apparaytus.
