I've been a teacher in southern California for fourteen years and I've about had it with politics, red tape, credentialing issues, etc... Teaching is no longer fun for me. I'd like to look for a new job/carreer next summer, but I'm not sure what I'm qualified to do. All of my education, up to a master's degree, and work experience are in teaching. I'll miss the vacation time (who wouldn't), but I think my happiness and well being are more important. Any suggestions on where to start? Anyone want to offer me a job?

If you still enjoy working with kids, you might try librarianship, specifically that of a youth services librarian. They don't always require an MLS and they are *always* in demand. I'm not sure if you'll make more than you do as an experienced teacher but some enlightened library systems do pay well. The YS Librarians are extremely important to the success of a library system.

The downside is that you work hard during the summers with their summer reading programs. This will take up about 8 weeks of the summer from mid-June to early August, however, you might find that you prefer vacationing in the fall or spring anyway and won't be bothered by the summer commitment.

An ideal job situation is to have a supportive library administration and a support staff of assistants to help with the programs preparation.

Consider it! You might end up loving it.

particular, your happiness and wellbeing are greater substantial than a job with the summer time off. first of all why did you adjust right into a instructor? Is is achievable you would be happy being a instructor in case you moved to a various state? Or do you basically want a sabatical? i think of a similiar element it quite is a sturdy occupation to look into may be a psychological wellbeing counslor, there are considered one of those careers in this section, you are able to proceed to artwork with toddlers if that's what you like or no teenagers while you're burnt out or a mix. you are able to nicely be a school counselor. i might wager you are able to need some greater training yet perchance no longer. There are different factors that want people who want to assist toddlers. look into diverse companies, perchance adoption, of direction generally that could be city, county or state so as which you will no longer basically like the purple tape. yet think of this by, do you have some money set aside to assist by any transition? do no longer backpedal, do it given which you may, yet do no longer rush it. shop the two eyes open and look on the solid and undesirable with all careers. sturdy good fortune!
