As long as you live in a clean environment, you don't need to sterilize the bottles, nipples, and pacifiers in boiling water past the first use. You might want to the first time, just to get any residue off of them, however.

Past that, get a bottle and nipple brush, and just wash them in the sink, and rinse them off good. :)

I would suggest that you wash them with soap and water first, just to make sure any residual milk/formula is not hiding or caked into any nook and cranny and then if you want run it through the dishwasher for sterilization. However I think boiling them or using a bottle sterilizer is better because I think that because the bottle opening is so narrow how it can effectively wash and rinse the inside of the bottle thouroughly without leaving some soap or food residue in the bottle is questionable. Why don't you try to take one of the bottles out of the dishwasher after it's been through the cycle and put a little plain water in there and shake it to see if there was any residual soap dryed on the inside. Hope this helps.

I would use a soap that is non-toxic. I think Sun & Earth makes one and I know Whole Foods carries some. I would use a bottle brush and nipple brush that are clean, in HOT water in a clean sink. rinse all the soap then boil the bottles and nipples for 1 minute to sterilize.

they make a baby bottle brush that gets in there really good. with dish soap just rinse it really good. Also pacifiers should be boiled for two min. then you know to let them cool .nipples the same. bottles don't really have to be boiled but if you want after you wash them with the brush you can put them in there with the nipples and pacifiers for two min. any more will melt all of it. Good luck. and congrats on the baby.

First you boil ALL the new bottles for sterilization... Then you wash them with warm water and soap using a baby bottle brush. You can find them at any store, even a grocery store and the cost about 3 dollars. They are very useful...

I personally wash bottles nipples and rings in hot soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Then i dip them in boiling water even though dr says it is not needed i did it with older kids so i do it with grandkids. i also keep a bottle of cooled boiled water in the diaper bag for the pacifier falls i pour some on it and i am good to go.

Buy a good bottle brush, with a nipple cleaning attachment. Boiling them periodically works to sterilize them, but be sure to check for cracks in the nipples by pulling them and inspecting them from there.
