Ruby Bayou by Elizabeth Lowell. Her novels are always instructional, as the heroine usually has an unusual trade or occupation. If only men would read more romance novels, they would learn so much about what women want which is not all that much really. A little consideration, a little thoughtfulness, a little loyalty.

The Day of the Storm by Pilcher-the descriptions of Cornwall, England are breathtaking. The characters are all intelligent and interesting which is a nice change from a typical paperback romance.
A Walk to Remember by Sparks-again interesting characters and surprisingly very realistic.

Personally for a man, I’d recommend something that isn’t *pure* romance. Maybe something with some mystery/suspense to it.
Nora Roberts--Carnal Innocence or Montana Sky
Karen Robards--One Summer or Whispers at Midnight
Gena Showalter--Enslave Me Sweetly
That's more than one book, I know, but don't we all like to have choices :)

Well i would recommend any Mills and Boon modern romance because the male characters are written in such a way its usually insulting to women. They are always rich, dark and handsome and european. What more could you reqally want?

My favorite romance author in general is Jude Deveraux. Most of her books are set in historical time periods which makes them more interesting.
