Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for GBA, nothing else
PIT CELL - CANYON
Sora will meet Tron immediately after entering this world; unfortunately, they
are both in a cell. Your first order of business here is to escape the cell.
Fortunately, that's as simple as hitting the door a few times to fill up the
Clusters gauge. Use Freeze to open the door. On the way out of the area, pick
up the PIT CELL AREA MAP and the MYTHRIL CRYSTAL from the chests (2/10). Use
the glowing platform to reach the Canyon area.
Open the chest next to Goofy for a DRIVE RECOVERY (3/10). Continue up the ramp
for a MYTHRIL STONE (4/10). Turn left and continue up the ramp to another chest
with a MEGA-POTION (5/10). Turn left and open yet another chest for a MYTHRIL
GEM (6/10). From here, drop down into the central area and inspect the pillar
in the middle of the room.
During this strange minigame, a ring of boxes will appear around you. You need
to find the box that's red, and follow it with the camera, since it turns blue
like all the other boxes. You can actually finish this little game in a matter
of seconds if you keep your eye on the part the first time it spins. If you
happen to lose it, you can collect clusters by hitting the boxes, and you can
use these clusters to freeze the parts and make it a little easier. Once you
know which part is the real part, just go over and whack it a few times to
clear this challenge.
After that, head back to the Pit Cell. Use the console to return to Hollow
Bastion.
SIMULATION HANGAR - I/O TOWER: HALLWAY - COMMUNICATIONS ROOM
|
PIT CELL - CANYON - DATASPACE
When Sora and the team arrive again, Goofy does something on the computer that
transports them to the Game Grid. Now, you must use the Light Cycle to escape
from the game grid while avoiding Heartless and walls.
There are two rounds you need to get through. The first round is short, and you
only need to destroy a few enemies to progress. The second round is more of an
endurance round until you reach the exit. It can be tough.
What you need to know is that L1 and R1 are both necessary to use when you're
approaching a wall. The flashing icon on screen will tell you which of the two
buttons to press (or if it's showing both, just pick one). Using Circle will
guard yourself from enemy attacks, using Square will Charge an enemy, breaking
the enemy's Guard, and Attack will break enemy Charges (and just kill them
too). Your best option is to use the regular attack on blue and yellow
Heartless, and Charge on green and grey Heartless. I didn't really find the
Guard command very useful. Since you can't heal during this ordeal, you'll have
to be extra careful throughout the entire thing. Try not to get hit, or hit
walls, or whatever.
The team is transported back to the Pit Cell after that incident, where they
meet up with Tron again. Head back up into the Canyon, and you'll start
encountering new enemies. Strafers are mostly just nuisance enemies, and you
can get rid of them fairly quickly. In the northeast corner of the area is the
entrance to the Dataspace.
Approach the large green monitor at the other side of the room and hit
Triangle. Tron will input the password, but before he can access anything, a
bunch of Heartless will appear. You have two minutes to Freeze all the monitors
around the room. In order to be able to use Freeze, you need to fill the
cluster gauge by killing enemies, which there are an infinite number of. Having
the Explosion and Draw abilities equipped for this challenge will dramatically
reduce the challenge (in case you're having a hard time with it).
BONUS: Sora: HP +5
Donald: Thunder Boost ability
Goofy: HP +5
Tron: HP +10
Tron gains full use of his abilities after this battle.
Now head back out into the Canyon. Head straight forward to the lift that takes
you to the I/O Tower. Grab the two chests in this area, which contain an AP
BOOST and a TENT (8/10). Ignore the red doorway on your left for now. Head into
the large circular part of the room. You'll encounter the aptly named
Devastator Heartless here. These robotic creatures are very annoying, painful,
and full of HP. You should stay away from them when any of their extremities
are glowing, or you're likely to be hurt by lasers and such. They change forms
sometimes, and will switch from aerial to ground combat. Keep a close watch on
your HP when fighting these guys. Head through the door.
In the Communications Room, grab the two chests: a GAIA BELT and the I/O TOWER
MAP (10/10). Equip the Draw ability too, and maybe even the Draw Ring. Save and
head back into the previous room when you're ready.

BOSS FIGHT: Hostile Program [24B]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a pretty interesting boss. You'll notice first off that it will
back far off from you. Since it's a circular room, it will try its best to
stay on the opposite side you're on. It isn't too tough to catch up to it,
but once it hits you, it usually slides away pretty quickly. Don't stay too
far away from it for too long either, as it has laser attacks that can take
a fair amount of HP away.

To start off, run up to it and start collecting the clusters (this is why I
said to equip Draw!). You'll get knocked back a few times, but keep the
pressure up until you have filled the cluster gauge. When this happens, hit
Triangle to Freeze the Hostile Program. Use every bit of this opportunity
to inflict major damage. Usually (and especially if it unfreezes during a
finishing move to a combo), you will get a ton of clusters when it becomes
reanimated.

As with all good bosses, the Hostile Program will become tougher as it
loses HP. It will actually start dashing around the circumference of the
arena at times (not too hard to avoid as long as you're moving). When it
gets extremely low on health, it will start sweeping the area with its
long lasers. This is a good time to move in and unleash Tron's limit. This
will cause a lot of damage, prevent Sora from taking any, and drop hundreds
of clusters.

BONUS: Sora: Drive Gauge +1
Sora: Horizontal Slash ability
Donald: HP +4
Goofy: Jackpot ability
Tron: HP +15

'============================================================================='
To leave Space Paranoids for now, use the monitor. You'll receive the PHOTON
DEBUGGER keyblade too.
Well, we actually land in Hollow Bastion first, but I didn't feel like wasting
an entire section on it, since you'll be fighting Space Paranoids enemies. Out
in front of Merlin's House is where you'll face your first group of them. After
taking care of the Strafers and the Devastator, Yuffie leads you inside. It
seems the MCP, the little problem that we haven't taken care of yet, has become
a big problem in the team's absence. It's using Ansem's machines to create
Heartless in the real world. On top of that, the claymores that helped you out
in battle (the town's defense system) will now be targeting you, and will be
generally annoying.
To check on Tron, you're going to have to run all the way back to Ansem's
Computer Room. There are skateboards set up along the way, in case you want to
dash past the enemies, but the next part of the game can be kinda rough, so
it's recommended that you fight, at least a little. Once you reach the computer
room, Leon will set you up with the SLEEPING LION keyblade. It's a really good
keyblade too, so you should remember to equip it.
Before using the computer to get to Tron's world, head through the newly opened
door to the right. The chest here is the final chest in Hollow Bastion, which
contains a COSMIC CHAIN (22/22). Head back up and use the computer now.
Once in the Pit Cell, use the terminal and select Light Cycle. Fight the
Heartless here (no Light Cycle games today), and Tron will be saved. Back in
the Pit Cell again, it's time to head to the I/O Tower. When you're almost to
the uploading point, a huge group of Heartless attacks, replete with several
Devastators. In fact, no less than three Devastators attack at the end. This
part definitely has the potential to give you trouble. Try Drives and Limits,
but keep an eye on your MP too, in case you need to heal in a pinch. Your best
bet here may be Wisdom form. Once that's over with, head into the
Communications Room.
With Cid's program, the team can now use the Simulation Hangar, Tron can now
defeat the MCP, and he also gains more abilities. In the I/O Tower: Hallway,
head straight across to the Simulation Hangar. Head up to the console on the
ship and Depart with Triangle. Along the way, Heartless will attack. Not only
is this another tough battle, you'll have to worry about the solar sailer being
overloaded. So get rid of those enemies fast! You may find that Wisdom form is
effective but too slow, unless you can really crank out those attacks. Limits
are the way to go during this battle, especially Tron's. After another brutal
wave of three Devastators, you'll win this battle.
BONUS: Sora: HP +5
Donald: MP Hastera
Goofy: HP +5
Tron: HP +5
Once the ship comes to a stop, grab the four chests in the area. The two small
ones contain an AP BOOST and an ORICHALCUM+, and the two large ones contain the
CENTRAL COMPUTER CORE MAP and a COSMIC ARTS (14/14). Take the time to flesh out
everyone's equipment, restock items, etc. Definitely SAVE YOUR GAME. Head north
into the new area, where Sark and MCP are waiting. Sark will immediately
attack, but he and his Heartless are easily defeated. Try using Zone Guard and
Disc Strike to drastically speed things up. The real trouble comes when the MCP
transfers its data to Sark.

BOSS FIGHT: Sark and MCP [40B]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite Sark's newly gained stature, he's still a pushover; maybe even
more so than before. Chopping both his legs up will cause him to keel over,
allowing you to hit his head. Try to stay underneath or behind him to avoid
his shockwave attacks.

With Sark temporarily out of the way, turn your attention to the MCP. Break
away one of the wall segments (you can't lock onto them, so try to stay
focused on one panel) and then hit Triangle to activate Tron's Deletion
program. The faster you hit Triangle, the faster the MCP's life will go
down. All in all, it's a pretty fun boss fight (one of my favorites). When
the barrier of walls gets high up in the air, it will come crashing back
down with lasers shooting out, breaking the Deletion process. To avoid
this, just run backwards (and a little sideways to avoid the laser). Sark
will also be restored after this.

Later in the battle, the MCP will make it really tough to get through to
him. When you break one of his walls, he will spin the entire line of them
around so that you can't reach the hole you just made. A simple solution is
to break one or two panels while the MCP is distracted by healing Sark.
This way, when the wall of panels spin again after breaking another, you'll
be close to a hole no matter what. If you didn't break a wall while the MCP
was restoring Sark, you could just keep breaking walls until you are close
to an opening after a spin.

The walls themselves get nasty as the battle progresses. Watch out for
lasers and electricity when they're spinning.

For a cool way to take out Sark, run away from him, wait for the MCP to
build a wall, and use High Climb and Needle Dive to instantly knock him
out. (Jeeze, I kinda feel bad for him, that looks like it hurts.) This is a
preferable method later in the battle, when the lasers can be hard to
avoid. Running away from Sark in this manner lets you concentrate only on
avoiding the lasers, instead of having to focus on Sark's attacks too.

One warning about this fight: if you die somehow while using Delete, the
game will freeze. Sora will do his "Uaaagh" thing, but the screen won't
turn black, and Sark will continue his pointless rampage forever. You don't
want this to happen (I found this out the hard way when I didn't save since
Halloween Town; oops), hence my prior warning to save.

BONUS: Sora: HP +5
Sora: Reflect Element
Donald: HP +4
Goofy: Accessory Slot
Tron: HP +5
