i'm saying ben, although i don't think it's the best idea. cowher is saying that he'll have to wait until sunday morning before the final decision is made and that he has to see how ben is after the cross-country flight, and ben was taking all the reps in practice, so i'd say all signs point to ben

They should give Batch a chance, see if he can't turn the luck around for the Steelers.
Ben is an amazing quarterback, but he's had a rough year from his accident and his apendectomy. People underestimate what that can do to a player's year-long performance. Pittsburghers still have the utmost faith in Ben - but Batch deserves a shot too.

If I were Bill Cowher, Batch would have been my starter for Oakland all week, even if I don't have to let Art Shell know that. I know, I know, a loss this week, and the Stillers can kiss the playoffs good-bye, but this is two concussions in four months for Big Ben, and I want him playing QB in Pittsburgh for many years to come. And that means I bite the bullet and roll the dice with Charlie for at least this week, ever mindful of the implications of another loss. We Steeler fans have seen first hand what the cumulative effects of repeated concussions did to Merril Hoge, and there is nothing in the NFL--not winning a "must win" game, not making the playoffs, not even bringing home the Lombardi Trophy--that is worth going through what Hoge had to endure (and still endures to a lesser degree) after he was forced to retire from football. Being eliminated from playoff contention after eight weeks can ruin the rest of your season, but repeated head trauma can screw up the rest of your life. That decision is a no-brainer (no pun intended...OK, yes it was). Besides, it's not like Charlie Batch has been chopped liver when he's had to play this season...he's a starting QB in backup's clothes. If it's my call, Charlie's my guy this week.

I live near Pittsburgh. The news here was iffy yesterday. I missed it today, however they have been pretty stupid about letting him play so soon after injuries all season, and I don't see them falling prey to the reporters if he gets hurt yet AGAIN this Sunday, so I doubt he will play. I bet on BATCH>GO CHARLIE ! Get well soon, Ben !

ESPN is reporting that Big Ben is medically cleared for the game. That doesn't necessarily mean that if he isn't playing or feeling well, than Charlie Batch won't go in. I personally think Big Ben should wait, although he is one tough cookie.
