Fall Out Boy and Hawthorne Heights are 2 I can think of. Those aren't examples of real punk. They should listen to real punk like The Ramones, The Clash, and The Sex Pistols.

How about recent "trendy" bands...

my personal opinion is that punk ended before 1980 began. it was a wholly british subculture not a musical trend - but the culture produced some good music.

any bands claiming to be punk after that are either very old or trying to be very new...and failing. plus, it might just be a cultural thing but i dont really count half the american 'punk' bands as punk.

you've got the stooges and velvet underground stuff which can be seen as proto punk - i.e. they helped the music scene that arrived from the punk culture come about. and then you have the american bands that were 'influenced' by the british punk bands .

Can't argue with that list really. S**t I once tried to win Blink 182 tickets so I could see Bad Relgion open then leave, without feeling bad about paying for them. And to the person who put Offspring as number #1, back in their Epitath days (first album, Ignition, even most of Smash) they were a great band. Sadly all you really hear of them is the crappy(when they try to be funny) stuff you hear on the radio all the time.

Fall Out Boy and Hawthorne Heights never called themselves punk, so you can't really say they're so-call punk bands. And bands that aren't really punk that I HATE with passion are Simple F*c* in plan and Good f*c*in Charlotte.

Fall Out Boy for me, too. They're just too much alike all the others. They're trying to be emo and punk at the same time, and don't do either well.
