Linksys 802.11b/g routers are the most economic, as well as user-friendly. Make sure it has "g" capability, as this is faster than "b."
There will soon be 802.11n WiFi, but it has yet to be commercially implemented or released to the public.

The type of wireless router currently offering the best overall WiFi signal range, however, is the so-called 802.11n pre-N unit. Where 802.11b and 802.11g routers contain one or two standard antennas, pre-N routers contain three antennas specifically designed to maximize WiFi range.
