Did you refill the radiator with coolant and replace the cap?
And then you tried to restart?
Check Fuses?
Sounds like the engine seized up, too hot. Its history.
I have a 1995 Intrepid.

The engine is overheating and you need to let the engine cool off, in order for it to start again. Also, I think the white smoke that is coming out of you tail pipe is stream but take to someone who know a lot about cars or a repair shop to see what the problem is.

it's a 1996 dodge intrepid. that's what's wrong with it.

and... it's not a good thing if there's no radiator cap. you might want to check that out.

Better check your dipstick, if any "milky" stuff on it you got water in oil pan, Don't try to start car. Overheat followed by white "smoke" is antifreeeze in combustion chamber.
I would agree, head gasket.

probably warped the heads and cause it to seize up. if it is a 2.7l v6, just have a new one (not rebuilt) put in it. common problem was that the oil runners in the engine would have sludge and cause the engine to fail. just some ideas.
