You can't. Norton softwares are notorious for slowing down computers. Some people have already submitted some excellent advice. Especially, running a scan at night, when you won't be on the computer. There are other tricks that I use. Before a scan, I exit from all non-essential programs. This should speed up the scan because more memory and CPU cycles will be available.

There are 3 free antivirus programs that are very light on system resources, including Antivir, Avast and AVG Antivirus.

They all will slow your computer down while scanning even running in the background unless you have a lot of memory, so the suggestion to run it when you are not using it and allow time for the scan to run is the best in my opinion. Peace!

im utilising norton 2007 on a pc the computer is only a a million.6ghzceleron m 256mbram 40gb puzzling pressure and norton not in any respect slowed it down jus end the strategies u dnt kneed and all the classes u dnt kneed

The best way is to schedule the virus check for a time when you dont need it as much.

It really does that I have Norton anti virus and it does not do that to my computer.

Schedule it to run at a specific time, such as midnight.

run it when your about to go somewhere and if you can't do that buy a faster pc with more ram and processor
