They don't have anything to justify. They have the right to say anything they want. Just as I have the right to not buy any of thier music.

Some people said worse things about Bush, but the people reactions was not as hard as the Dixie Chicks had to face. They said what they believe was right, as many other people were already saying the same thing, but many didn't have the guts to say out loud as they did.
Everyone should have the chance to come back, including them. Look at what is happening in Iraq. The Arabs and the American soldiers are dying everyday. that is worse than what they said. Freedom of speech! ya sure. where is it!
They have their right to speak up their mind, as it is the right to everyone, as it is the right for other people to back them up or not. If someone doesn't like what they say, they don't have to listen to them or buy their music. Freedom of choice to both.

I don't think they have any actions to justify. Natalie Maines is entitled to her opinion, country fans and country radio tho entitled to their opinion as well, behaved like a bunch of lowlife rednecks.
Freedom of speech only exists in the us if you agree with the conservatives? Now there's democracy for ya.
I like the song I'm not ready to make nice, I think it should be the GOP theme song in this election and the one in 08.

They only made those statements in France because they wanted to increase their record sales over there. Remember, they released an album and a DVD only months before the war started. They know that the French hate Bush, and war in general. Why did they inform the French of their political views when they were just there to play music? Were the French just "dying" to know about the Dixie Chick's political views before the show or something? Howcome? Well, what better way to increase record sales than to use their stage as a platform to speak out against something that the French are already against. Bunch of kiss ups. They're trying to "justify" it now because they have guilty consciences about it. They knew they only did it as a stunt to promote record sales in France. Sure, they have the freedom to say what they want, but there was a hidden agenda behind why they specifically chose France to speak out. There's also a hidden agenda behind why they're speaking out now about it, 3 years later. Record sales have dropped because of their stunt in France, that's why.

They never went away, and the "controversy" didn't hurt their album sales. There's no need for them to justify their actions - as Americans they had every right to express their opinions.

agree with them or not, they have the right to say anything they like about anyone they choose.......Bush hasn't taken away Freedom of Speech yet, (or has he?)
people who burned their CD's, paraded around their concerts with the picket signs......... those people want that freedom, but get all excited when someone actually exercises that right if it goes against their way of thinking.......i say leave the Chicks alone, let them sing, and if you don't like the music, change the radio dial or turn it off.
