help? i bought them for my turtles and another tank for my pirahna but they died almost instantly, does anyone know why

Feeder fish are kept in horrible conditions, so they are very weak to start with. If you just dumped them in, they were probably shocked and died. I'm surprised your pirahna did not eat them before they died. Next time, float the bag (if you can and the piranha won't eat a hole in it) to acclimate the fish to the temp of the tank. You can also add some of your tank water to acclimate them before putting them into your tank.

Did you acclimate the feeder fish to the turtle tank and the tank for the pirahna? If not, the feeder more than likely instantly went into shock due to temperature change.

because you've a 5 gallon it quite limits this kind of fish. yet there remains some fish you're able to have in there. Like Guppies, Tetras, and a Betta. Plus you may want to install some Ghost Shrimp and some Snails to assist sparkling it and so as that they are cool to computer screen.

well if u got them in a bag and instanty dumped them in the new tank they probley wherent adjusted to the water and the temp. change killed them, u have to let the bag float on the top of the tank for 20 to 30 minutes next time

They may have been shocked by the change in temp. Did you get them at walmart? Those fish never last more than 1 minit in my tank.

The temperature of the water must of caused them to go into shock. You have to get them used to the water temperature in the tank. Did you do that?

your piranha probably killed them ! you do know that piranhas are carnivorous. right! anyway goodluck!
