I think they are 1 or 2 players and a consistent goalie away from being a good team.
I think not knowing what city they will be playing in next year might be unsettling.
Not sure about the coaching staff, are they any good?

To those who don't think they are a threat don't fool yourselfs. Fluery is finally coming into his own. He is one of the top goalies in save percentage and proably taking more shots then most of the ones above him. They have young players that are getting better. Actually going to West Point and doing a team building exercise seems to be what they really needed. Also these guys, well alot of them, were sent back down to the AHL and Wilkes Barrie-Scranton Penguins after the last year. So they played a full year PLUS a long season helping lead the Baby Pens to the AHL Championship.
OK first off if Staal is sent down it will be to the OHL, the Junior Major club has rights to him and I think it was Petersboro, and not the AHL Wilkes-Barrie Scranton Penguins. Second if he is it makes some sense. OK they have Crosby's contract one year and the next year it will be Malkin's contract. If Staal is sent down they get one more year on him. Otherwise it is the same year as Malkin. Anyway why do you people keep insisting they will move. IF the slots license is awarded to Isle of Capri(and there is a decent chance it will be) they will build a new Arena. The new owner(once is offically new owner) would likely lease the Mellon arena for one more year if he has to. That is saying that the Construction on the new Arena is started though. If it isn't even started then I don't think he would.

The Penguins are an amazing team this year. There's a good mix of veteran players & young players, and due to the way the new management bonded the team, the charisma has been fantastic.
Crosby and Malkin are both superstars, and the line they are on should be one of the best in the league, and will hopefully help them become a playoff team this year.
Fleury has hugely picked up his game from last year. He has made saves this year that make him look like a magician. Fans were hard on him at games last year, and now he's more than making up for it all.
It's going to be a great year for the Pens!

They're the most surprising team this season. They've got a very young and talented pool of players with Crosby, Stall, Malkin and Fleury who are #1 and 2 in the draft. They've got a big chance to make it. I'd see them going to the playoffs and be a threat for a long time.

Hopefully they do not send down Jordan Stall to Wilkes -Barres. He is a threat on the penalty kill. The Pens will be in the Cup final in 2 or 3 years.Could be the next dynasty if they can keep this core off players together. Also the Pens may win the Cup as the Kitchener-Waterloo Penguins. There moving dude... Mellon arena is the worst arena and oldest in the league.RIM owner Jim Basilie is moving the team to Canada. Ontario Penguins?

Ya gotta love these kids. They've got some steady vets, an infusion of young talent, and a coach in Michel Therrien that expects them to play to the best of their abilities every game. Once again, these guys are fun to watch, and we can even attend, watch or listen to a game without having to wonder when and how the roof is going to fall in. Now we just have to keep the Pens here. So if you are a Pens fan, and you live in Western Pennsylvania contact every government official you can think of by phone, by mail, and by e-mail and let them know that getting that new arena built is going to be a primary concern of yours when you step up to the voting machine in a couple weeks (Are you listening, Ed Rendell? Probably not.).

this is not a suprise team. But they need a better goalie Fleury cannot get it done in crunch situations (a la the would juniors in Finland I don't think he has still recovered from that loss). I still think they are a few years off from playoffs they should of gotten in least year with that lineup they had but blew it big time and replaced the coach for their lackluster effort.

It would not surprise me in the least if they made the playoffs. Crosby and Malkin pretty awesome young blood.
I agree with you, they could be and are a tough team to beat every night,

They've got a good mix of young, talented guys & older vets, Recci, LeClaire etc & a coach that doesn't put up with anything except maximum effort. So far, they've been a real treat to watch & have played very well, but it's a long season & they need to work on the blue line & get the GA down.

Very excited about the future of the team. It looked bleak a few years ago but being bad can really pay off especially with all the deep rookie classes recently. I get giddy just thinking about how scary good they will be in a few years. Stanley Cup dynasty!
