The "DVD+/-RW" means that the drive can both read and write to DVD+/-R (record once DVD) and DVD +/-RW (i.e. rewriteable DVD). The "double layer" means that the drive supports dual layered DVD, both reading and writing. A single layered DVD can hold up to 4.7GB, roughly 2 hours of DVD quality video. However a dual layered DVD can hold up to 8GB, roughly 4 hrs of DVD quality video. As for the "lightscribe," people oftentimes burn a DVD and use a color marker to label the DVD. It looks unprofessional and ugly. So, now, you can buy a new type of DVD called "LightScribe DVDs." The top most layer is specially treated so that a DVD drive and etch a title on to the DVD. Not all DVD burner are capable of doing this and those that can advertise they can. It seems the drive your interested in is LightScribe capable.
Lastly, when you see DVD-R or DVD+R or DVD+/-RW remember they are just standards set by the video industry. The earliest standard was DVD-R and followed by DVD+R. Since these are the oldest standards, all modern DVD players can play it. However, the latest standard DVD+/-RW, might not work on an older DVD drive or DVD player. If you plan on burning DVDs then you can play it safe by using DVD-R, it is almost guarantee that it is playable on all DVD players.

That means the drive can store up to 8 gigs of data on a single DVD. You will need dual layer blanks to do this tho, the lightscribe software allows you to burn a label right on the disk.
